Destructive Book Scanning
High-Quality Book Digitization: Our Advanced Scanning Process
To provide you with the best digital version of your book, we use a method the industry calls “destructive scanning.” This process involves carefully removing the book’s spine to allow each page to be scanned individually using a high-speed, sheet-fed scanner.
This technique is distinct from “non-destructive” methods, where the book’s binding is kept intact.
Key Advantages of Our Method:
- Superior Quality: By scanning each page flat, we eliminate the page curvature and gutter shadows that can distort text and images, a common issue with non-destructive scanning
- Faster Turnaround: This efficient process allows us to digitize your books quickly, getting your files back to you sooner.
- More Affordable: The speed and efficiency of this method translate into a more cost-effective service for you.
Our Technology and Your Final Product
We use state-of-the-art scanning equipment to capture your book’s content with exceptional clarity.
- Resolution: Our standard scanning resolution is a crisp 300 DPI, with an ultra-high 600 DPI option available for an additional fee.
- Formats: We can scan in full color, greyscale, or bitonal (black and white).
- Conversion: After scanning, we utilize industry-leading Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software with over 99.6% accuracy. This allows us to convert your book into a variety of useful formats, including:
- Editable Microsoft Word documents
- Searchable PDFs
- eBook formats (ePub, Mobi)
- MP3 audiobooks
